2024: Establishing Our Presence

May 2024

In May 2024, the Boston LGBTQ+ Museum made its official debut with a spring/summer season, including Marry Me, a multimedia installation inside the Massachusetts State House, commemorating 20 years of marriage equality. This was followed by Portraits of Pride 2024 in Seaport, celebrating LGBTQ+ artists, arts leaders, and the plaintiffs who helped secure marriage equality.

June 2024: Portraits of Pride Ball

We elevated our Portraits of Pride exhibition reception to a high-profile gala—the Portraits of Pride Ball—at the Hynes Convention Center. The sold-out event hosted over 740 guests, including elected officials, lawyers, activists, and scholars, and raised significant funds to support our mission. The evening featured a five-star dinner, awards ceremony, live performances, and music. The Portraits of Pride Ball was sponsored by TD Bank, with additional support from the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, the Boston Foundation, and the Social Equity Access Fund.

In June 2024, we inaugurated our first gallery: THE PRYDE

We opened our first gallery space, The PRYDE Gallery, in the neighborhood of Hyde Park in partnership with LGBTQ Senior Housing. This space allows us to showcase intimate exhibitions while continuing to present large-scale works throughout Greater Boston and across Massachusetts.

October 2024: Boston Queer Arts Festival

The Boston Queer Arts Festival debuted as a weeklong multidisciplinary celebration of LGBTQ+ artistry, featuring live talks, author conversations, gallery open houses, archival visits, and musical performances. The festival was funded by the City of Boston’s Office of Arts & Culture.
