Mission

The mission of the Boston LGBTQ+ Museum of Art, History & Culture is to research, collect, conserve, interpret, and exhibit arts that honor the history of the LGBTQ community in Boston and in Massachusetts, and celebrate the lives and narratives of LGBTQ people through the arts and culture.

Vision

Our vision is to establish the Boston LGBTQ+ Museum as a preeminent art institution, setting the standard for LGBTQ+ programming not only in Boston but across the entire state of Massachusetts and the broader New England region. Our aim is to lead the way in LGBTQ+ art, programs, and engagement, serving as a dynamic hub for education, exploration, and celebration of LGBTQ+ culture. Through our innovative exhibitions, impactful programs, and meaningful community engagement initiatives, we aspire to create a lasting legacy of inclusivity, representation, and empowerment for generations of artists to come.

We envision a physical space in the greater Boston area combined with an innovative digital platform that will provide a safe haven for queer artists to grow in fellowship and exhibit their artworks and showcase their talents through exhibitions, public programming and special events. We are excited to become an art institution encompassing a variety of art forms, from performance, to contemporary, and modern art including but not limited to fine arts, visual, conceptual and abstract art that center queer narratives.

Our Promise

In the years to come, we promise that the Boston LGBTQ+ Museum will present a permanent exhibit under the guidance of our Queer Arts Task Force, a group of esteemed historians, curators, producers, gallerists & activists. This permanent exhibit will tell the history of the LGBTQ+ movement in Boston and in Massachusetts.
